My library does not have a dedicated website person, but I do simple updates like adding photos to our slideshow, changing the front page text, etc. Recently I noticed that the website is ocassionally trying to redirect to a scam site, and am trying to figure out what happened and how to fix it. The only thing I’ve added recently was a pdf schedule, a link to a simple Google form, and pictures. The organization does receive a LOT of pdfs from patrons to open and print, so I thought that might have caused something — but I’ve scanned all of the workstations I’ve used to do website updates, and none have detectable malware. When I was searching stack overflow I saw references to downloading the database and searching for malicious code. Right now I am doing the obvious thing and trying to update wordpress and all plugins.
