Malware infection despite newest version?

Hey there! My webhost just suspended my URL because of a malware infection in the file: “wp-content/plugins/wysija-newsletters/controllers/ajax/config.php”

Now I removed the file and changed my passwords and their check is okay, so I can access wpadmin again. Now i see that no new update for Mailpoet is available from my Version 2.7.10. I am a bit afraid that the same will happen again now if no update is available to fix the breach?

Any comments on this? Is there a new verrsion coming up?
